Abstract

The main idea of this research is to bring to discussion the theme “People with Disabilities inside Journalism” in an academic sense solidifying bases in psychological concepts about the “different one” nowadays.

Through the project “Gifted Included – People with Disabilities in Journalism” – Our Wheeled Reporter César, intends to show the difficulties of moving around and professional acceptance that wheel-chaired people face in big urban centers. To do so, it was researched about the taboos that still exist towards handicapping. Besides that, in order to elucidate theses difficulty, prejudice and difference matters, we sought to understand the concept of “different” according to many thinkers and philosophers. In Brazil there are about 500 thousand gifted people, however, the lack of professionals in Social Communication before a camera or a microphone makes the perspectives of job too small for an emerging class of skilled communicators, either by the lack of structure in companies or by the lack of opportunities for Talented and Gifted. (TG). In the meanwhile the Institutions realize the importance of having an efficient communication reaching not only this type of listeners as well as the general public.

Analyzing all these aspects, this paper intends to provide a general panorama of Social Communication Market for Talented and Gifted people nowadays, sharing the point of view of many authors that dedicated themselves to write about the theme, a definition of the subject according to the words of different experts. It intends to identify the reasons that lead to tha absence of such professionals inside the communication field.
